Description:
The project aimed to restore basic infrastructure in communities and rural areas affected by a flood and earthquake by making urgent repairs and extending existing flood protecting infrastructure.
The Monitoring , Forecasting and Flood Warning Service was also modernised, with the installation of 3 radar stations, 206 Automated Weather Observation Stations (AWOS), 126 Hydrological Stations (HS), a Satellite Communication System (VSAT) and a High Performance Computer System (HPCS).
A maintenance center for the AWOS and Radar Stations was also established along with a Flood Forecasting Center that included Flood Modelling capabilities.
Services provided:
- General engineering for repair and improvement of flood protection infrastructure
- Monitoring of construction progress and quality assurance
- Preparation of documents for radar stations VSAT System, AWOS Stations, HPCS high performance computer system and flood forecasting systems
- Coordination for interfaces and assistance for project start up
